Is this what you're referring to? If so, it is not a good comparison to the Daymaker or similar style LED lights. The Daymaker projector lens is designed to be used with specific placement of the LEDs, where as the one in the link is a H4 lamp replacement, which the original HD reflector was not designed for. It may be close lumens for lumens, but said lumens are not getting out of the HD housing.

Apples and oranges, cheaper is not always better.

I have to agree! Figures the Daymaker Reflector has both on when set on high beam.

I emailed Jw Speaker today about this question in regards to the new evo2. The response they gave me was that the light is not dot compliant with both leds lit (to bright). I then asked about off road use, if the light would handle it or if it would have heat issues. They then replied that the internal wiring will not allow both circuits to be on at once, it will default to high beam only.

I've actually been side by side with someone that has a day maker and mine has a little more width of light and yes it was just as bright. The way the reflective part of the stock HD headlight does do the LED light justice. You should see the comparison first hand before you dismiss it, I have.

That's a lot of heat in a small package, and why you see the aluminum cooling fins on the back of the Daymaker and similar headlights. If they get too hot they will prematurely fail, or it will simply shut itself off via a thermal protection circuit untill you turn it off and it comes down in temperature.

Just my .02c for what it's worth.

This is exactly what my dealer told me when I was trying to figure this out as well.

I second this. And as I stated in another post about led lights. That light is from Hong Kong and not DOT compliant making it illegal. Just like sticking an HID in a halogen housing.
