Ok I cant take it anymore.. my 06 RoadKingCustom has that annoying squeeking front brake problem back. "The dealer fix of spray foam" didnt hold over the winter.
I went back a few pages but couldnt see any topics on this.
what can you recommend to replace my stock front brakes in regards to the floating rotor system or other?
This is a common complaint with the 06 RK Customs (and probably others). The local dealer here said the best fix was any of the floating rotors; they said they'd install them for free if I purchased them.
I like the calipers, I just wish PM didnt have to plaster the name all over it. I saw that Hogpro came up with some new calipers the other day that are very clean looking. Nicely priced as well.
try the Kevlar pads or Z-pads first. Just a different pad than HD can make a difference. I made the move to floating rotors for other reasons and run Kevlar pads.
Pretty sure there is a recall on the dual front brake set up...they reverse the discs...make sure they are true next with felt pen...
If not..largd adj. wrench or rubber mallet will fix it..I SAW THE FACTORY BULLETIN ON THIS ONE...
The HD pads are very hard. Lyndall pads are excellent and Kevlar.........advise you to try them first. The floaters are wonderful.......stock on many non-Harley bikes. Use the Lyndall pads AND the floaters for a sure thing....and the kevlar pads won't scar your rotors.
