Default Keeping stock mufflers

I've got a 2015 cvo road glide I just picked up. I must be getting old because I'm diggin riding around listening to tunes without the loud mufflers. I was thinking about replacing the pipes to get rid of the cat a putting the stock mufflers back on and getting it tuned. I'm thinking it will run cooler and pick up a little power . Anybody else do this ?

You are not alone.
I liked the stock exhaust note, the sound changed when I got rid of the cat but priority for me was reducing the heat. My 2014 SGS runs fine with plenty of power. I'm showing my age, this is the first bike I've owned where I have stock mufflers.......for now.

I did essentially that with my 2012 Ultra Classic. Removed the stock pipe containing the cat and replaced it with a FullSac. Re-installed the stock mufflers (provides good back pressure making the bike easier to tune) then tuned the bike with the TTS.

Like you, I found long-distance riding much more comfortable with this setup.

I replaced my stock header on my 2011 RGC with the fuelmoto headpipe. I just wanted to rid the glide of the CAT. I still used my stock slip-ons and the bike performed and sounded awesome to me

I just got my '15 CVO street glide the last of December. I took off the head pipe, cut open the cat chamber and removed the cat. Then, I took a hole saw that just fit inside the muffler outlet and cut out the weld for the baffle. Both sides were @ 8" baffles. It isn't quiet, but all the friends who ride with me say it sounds great. Inside the muffler there is a full running pipe the size of the inlet that is fiberglass wrapped like the old glass pac mufflers. Can cruise with it very reasonable, but can really sound off when getting into it.

I have to say I like the stock mufflers with the head-pipe that I put on. I installed a Rinehart
Slimline Dual Header pipe kept the stock mufflers, and the Bike is louder, but not bad loud.
I also have installed a K&N replacement air filter for the stock Air Cleaner housing, and I use
Nightriders FL-ViED-10 as my fuel richening device. My 14 Street Glide runs great, there
is less heat {no cat}, and has respectable power for a low buck Stage-1. I am sure some
will say I can do this, or I can that, I can dyno it to get all the power out of it. I am 69 years
old, and have been riding since 1970, it's not my first Bike, it's more then likely my last Bike.
That is what I tell the Wife anyway, I have had lots of dirt bikes, lots of street Bikes over the
years. I have ported some two strokes, I have ported heads on four strokes, I have had
horse power before. I just like the way this Bike runs the way it is now.

Just saying

I totally get it, as I went through the same thing with my truck. I hade a flow master exhaust system on Dodge Ram with a 360. Sounded absolutely bad ***, but now I prefer a quiet ride.

I'm not there yet with the bike, but it will probably soon happen. Man I must be getting old, LOL.

I did that for my wife. But, I also drilled out the baffle at the end of her stock pipes.

check out the fullsac cvo power cores. the 1.75 core is slightly louder than stock, while the 2.0 is just a little bit louder than that. the 2.0 seems to give the best performance as well. that is what i put in my bike, and the wife's bike. put them on her bike for 'short term' until she could decide which mufflers she wanted, and she's been happy with them for almost 2 years now.
