My question is...if I were to get a '09 and up RK frame...could I move the rest of my bike over.....basically move (swap) my whole bike to a new frame.
Why? I believe the rake and rear wheel would be different and it would guve me different options.
I will have the bike totally apart for re-painting and while I was at that stage swap the frame.

Thanks....
Swap the rear fork assembly, (swingarm ) for the 07 SE road king rear assembly And replace your rear fender With the SE road king rear fender.

You. Get...wider swingarm, ability to run 17 x 4.5 rear wheel, 170 rear tire.

Since you are doing a re-spray get the rear fender in primer ($250) and SE swingarm in black ($650), SE axle $89, run any HD 17 x 4.5 rear wheel, and SE 07 rear. Axle spacers

For about a grand, you get wide tire, better handling and keep same bike.

You will be amazed at the ride.
Oh, and its a direct bolt on, no fab needed

Just comparing my 2014 Road King to my buddy's 2010 Street Glide we are noticing differences in the build. I can only imagine the differences between a 2005 and 2009 where the bike was totally redesigned.

This I can do.....thank you....love the forum even though some questions seem weird....but they need to be asked so tha an informed decission can be made.

Thank you all.....and yes I love my '05 RK. (15 more years and it will be a classic) do the have that designation for bikes or do they just call them museum pieces?

You are not going to "remake" an '05 with the older frame into an "'09" model. Just too many differences to make it practical, or even possible.

If you really, really want "the new frame", sell or trade up to a newer bike.

The Rushmore Road King is a beautiful machine...

absolutely agree with both.... you would def be better just selling and buying diff bike. there would be so much work to be done and you would be in that bike for so much more than its worth like us all but i dont see ppl buying it if you ever tried to sell.
