TDK - I'm with you, I can feel when the bike is lugging, singing along or working too hard. But some people like numbers... Just like my buddy who wears a fitness monitor on our mountain bike rides - at the end of the day he'll say '857 calories, that was a good workout'. I'll say, 'I'm beat that was a good workout'. But he's happy and even has a spreadsheet of ever ride he's taken... And yes, I laugh at some of the cars I've owned that came with tachometers - marketing won those battles...

Tach also can be a huge help in figuring out a problem. It pinpoints the exact rpm range you are having issues.

Old thread, but I suspect many Harley riders shift based on their loud exhaust rather than when the bike is ready.

On topic of thread, early TC were not plug and play. When the change was,and what it was, I don't know.

I gave up on doing this with OEM Police RK parts. There's no available info out there on whether it would work (I would have to get the RPM from the CANBUS or where to make the electrical connection.

I added my police roadking tach to my 06. Get a 3 wire tachometer + and - and Pink. Find +and - accessory hook up in headlight housing. Once you mount tack to handle bar mount find the pink no3 wire at ECM. Make a small cut to expose wire and hook up your wire from headlight housing. And you’re done. I tried what others say but there is no pink wire under speedometer or in headlight housing. Hope this helps believe me this works Thanks damondent89@yahoo.com
