Default Road Glide Handlebar replacement

Any tips/ tricks to changing Roadglide bars? Going with Wide Glide Bars....

Just pop cover off speedo/tach. Press base below speedo forward with thumbs far enough to release two tabs. Pivot cover forward to unhook at top. This will reveal handlebar clamps and top bolts. Take a dremel or similar tool and trim the lower part of nacelle to allow access to lower bolts. Speedo cover will hide when reinstalled.
BTW check heritage classic bars before you decide for sure.

oops, forgot! there is a torx head screw on each side of the speedo tach cover.Better remove those or you won't get too far. 25torx I believe.

Bars from a Heritage or wide glide will work with some munipulation of wires and cables without changing them, a search on this subject will give you step by step info. I ran both and found heritage the best for me.

Was more concerned with the complications at the contol end of bars, will parts fly when I open them up? Looked in the service manual and of course they make it sound like a major project. thanks for all the help...

No parts to fly around when you split controls. The most tedious part will probably be the throttle cable ferals. Adjust cables out to give you maximum slack, then readjust after installation.

OK Got the bars on, don't know why they intimidaed me, I've changed many bars before, I think all the radio controls etc had me in a corner...no sweat, about an hour and a clutch cable reroute,done deal, and everything still works!Thanks all for your support.
