I've been wearing a full face helmet recenty, the part of the helmet below the visor that goes in front of my mouth blocks my downward peripheral vision of my speedo, I have to take my eyes off the road and look straight down at it. With my half helmet I could just peer down without moving my head to check my speed.
I wouldn't mind moving the Street Bob speedo to the bars, has anyone done this? I've done a search and everyone just says do a tank swap with an FXD, but I want to keep my tank. I'm not so much worried about the hole, I can figure that out.
Is it possible to run dual speedometers with both functioning? Worst case scenario, I could buy a speedo for the bars and have a non-functioning one to fill the space in the dash. The below bike has a speedo in the stock location, unsure if it's a speedo or tach on the bars, but I wouldn't mind running a similar setup.
Has anyone moved their Street Bob speedo to the bars, if so any pics and what did you use to mount? Thanks fellas.
I'm in the process of doing the same thing, except I wanna run the speedo and tach on the bars, only solution I've come up with is to buy another dash and weld a plate over the hole, then so it doesn't look funny, I'm Gonna put the key from a wide glide or newer streetbob in the stock speedo location. Ditch my t bars for risers and use the Mickey mouse ear gauge mount from Harley.
I added a tach from a 07 Road King Police bike. Got ot off ebay and wired it in just before the speedo. Had to bend the mount some to clear my windshield. You could add the tach and use it. EBay buy for $60.
Looks good! I'm hoping for a speedo up there because that's what matters most, but even a speedo/tach combo like the FXD's would be nice. I suppose I could get the stock pieces from an older bike, but I want to keep a clean, stock look as well. Hard to get the best of both worlds...
I was looking at the blackline and it has some kind of a mount, I'm not too sure how it attaches but I wonder if that piece would work. I don't know, I've got a few other small projects I've been working on and don't feel like dicking around with the wiring, this will probably be on the long list of future mods...
Check out autometer gauges, Im pretty sure they make a 2 5/8 speedo/tach combo if im not mistaken. I have a 2 5/8 autometer tach that im going to mount on top my bars and im keeping my dakota digital speedo/tach where its at. And if your looking for a gauge cup mounting setup that mounts ontop of the bars wimmer custom cycles makes one that fits the autometer 2 5/8 gauges , thats where I bought mine from.
