Just got back home from a 1200 mile road trip. 2012 UC 103, Riding solo, tires 36/ 40, some luggage, PC V, AC and pipes. I did go into 6 gear about 55mph which I am now reading maybe to early. I was riding at highway speed between 65 and 75. Now home I am checking my milage, got between 32 and 35 mpg. In the south, we have crap gas (Shell 91) which I get crap milage in the cars also but up north I was hoping for better mileage. For riders in the south, is this normal ?? Plugs are fine, bike runs well. Should I contact Fuel Moto for a better download ??

Your tune is off. You should be getting in the 40-45 plus range with that bike. I get between 38-42 average with a built 124 inch engine when touring.
After my stage 1 and power commander with a canned tune, the best I got was 40. I run 93 and I'm in Ohio. Now I have SE255 cams and had it dyno'd. I got 37 riding 2 up. I shift into 6th too early also. I'm forcing myself to not use it till over 65mph. I'll see if it's any better on my next fill up. I really like the extra power from the cams, so it probably won't get better, unless I break my right wrist or something.
Why isn't it a good idea to go into 6th until 55-60-65? Just bought a 2010 ultra, 1st on e with a 6th gear. Thx
It hurts fuel economy. In sixth gear at 55 you're lugging the motor, it has to work harder. It's not in its most efficient rpm range. Some guys lower their final drive ratio to increase rpm's especially in 6th gear. I may do it in this winter's mods. I have read several people say it makes sixth gear more "useable".
I'm running the 103 with aftermarket AC, decatted head pipe and RC component slip ons without any baffle, V&H FP3 tuner and get 43-45 mpg consistently.

What do you do to change this ratio? Do you have to change the final drive gear? Maybe I need to do a search Just easier to ask.
You can change your front belt pulley, clutch basket, or compensator sprocket. The ratios change with each different type. Lots of discussions about it.
