I like Corbin. The old tractor seat design distributes the pressure across all of your butt and thighs.

I also haven't ridden in about 20 years. The first couple times out, I found my rear hurt as did my inner thighs. When I learned to relax again, all that went away.I also took my wallet out of my rear pocket. Rode over 175 miles to get coffee the other day and not one bit of discomfort. I may add some memory foam down the line tho.
Some guys find it bragging rights regarding how much they spend to "modify" their scoots. I cannot see spending money on heated seats, air pocket seats, etc. The b*tch about heat from the engine, then spend $1000 to warm their a$$. I'll spend my money on gas and beer. This way the extra "foam" on my *** will keep me warm and comfy as I ride.

Well, seats are a very personal thing. If we were all shaped the same then designing a comfortable saddle would be a no brainer for the manufacture. Some folks will be very happy with the stock seat. Unfortuantely, I'm not in that catagory, but at least it nice to know we've all got plenty of options to make things better.

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

I'm really glad to hear that you really enjoy your bike just like it came, but personalizing a HD is as old as the brand itself, and makes it "yours". Some people do it to brag, but most do it to make the bike fit them better, perform better, or look better...to them, or for themselves. No motorcycle is built to fit every consumer, so modifications are just part of getting the bike to "fit" ergonomically or just to fit a persons personality. And on a 28 degree morning in the mountains, I'll take the heated seat, thank you.

175 miles is not a good test on a seat. Do 400+ in a day, then you'll know if the seat is comfortable for you. But don't wait to do that on a 2000 mile trip. If you scoot relatively short distances, the stock seat may be fine for almost anyone, but if you TOUR on the bike, more people than not find the stock seat lacking.

Thanks for the reply on the seat, dang almost $700. This FLHTCU is a very
EXPENSIVE hobby for a retiree!

Improving on this bike will break my SS check, time for a part time job.

One way to save a few bucks, q, if you want the "regular" black leather seat without any frills, is to order through one of the 20% off dealers like Chicago, Zanotti's, Charlies, Crystal River, etc. Even some local HD dealers will give you a discount on aftermarket parts like Kury, Corbin, etc, so it would be worth checking into. Whatever you decide, hope it all works out well for you!!

You should definately try Allen of mean City Cycles. I just got the memory foam mod done and its great! On my other bikes I had mustang seats and they cost about $600 and were not any better IMO than this mod which only cost $175 and Allen customized it for my specific fit. Can't go wrong.

Wow - I could've writtrn the opening post. My as* is still sore from the weekend ride. I'm waiting for the Dover run here in Ontario. Last year I'm told there was a saddle guy there that worked on your seat while you waited.
