My brother and I rode to Northern Arkansas last week and rode the mountains for several days. The tree and plant pollen was so thick that your bike and helmet would have a chartreuse colored coating of it every day. After I returned home I serviced my RK and was amazed at the amount of pollen that was clogging up the air filter. I took it out for a ride afterwards and it seemed to have a little more pep. Definitely something to watch out for.
For real!
I went on an all day ride upstate on Thursday, rode by lots of hayfields and pastures. I had to pull over and use some eyewash and take a break at a small country store for a few. My bike did not even look Root Beer colored at the end of the day at all! We have had no rain for about 2 weeks, with abundant sunshine, a paradise for all kinds of pollen. Should be a great year for honey!
