Radio Install Wires
I need to install a 12v constant and a ignition lead.
I have a 12v wire, but I'm trying to find a good Ignition lead wire to tap off to. Any suggestions...yes i'm being lazy and not getting my multimeter out. It's easier to ask people on here. Thanks in advance.
I used the Biketronics kit for police bikes and they have you use the Cigarette Lighter as the switched/ignition power (pre-wired with a little connector do-hickey that lets you piggy back into the cigarette lighter post), and generally one of the left-over police wires for the constant 12V.
I found the wiring harness that is used for all the police functions; it was cut and tied back inside the fairing (good) and cut and tied back at the battery/fuse box area (bad).
Traded a couple of emails with the very helpful Biketronics peeps and with some direction I isolated one of the wires in the 'useless' harness, installed an inline fuse and connected it to the B+ - extracted the other end of said wire (there's 6 or 8 in the harness) and used it as the constant.
