I know this has been covered here and elsewhere many times but I havent seen a definitive answer so I ask again.
I have a 2007 RK. Stage 1. K&N with a Dobeck 3.5 EJK Tuner. I ride hard. When the bike is warm and I decel after hard riding I get a very loud backfire and the bike wants to stall. If 10 minutes later I come to a stop it does stall. without fail it will stall as soon as I stop after the backfire no matter how long I ride after.
I recently had my Y pipe changed because it was cracked and I thought that was the cause. I have checked for intake leaks with spraying wd40 on the seals while bike was running bu there was no change in idle so I assume no leak. I have checked front cylinder connection with smoke no leak.
I have richened up the dobek on accel and decel to no avail.
Any suggestions???? Anyone have similar and solved???
I wasnt aware of that. I actually read on here I think to use WD40 . OK. I will try the starter fluid tonight.
I checked the exhaust but will again.
I would not use starting fluid... unless you want to take the chance of a nasty fire...as far as the backfire, it sounds to me like you need to have the tuner adjusted (tuned)...sounds like the injectors are spraying in fuel when there is no spark to the plugs on deceleration and the fuel is collecting into exhaust...it also could be a sometimes bad plug, bad plug wire (check the resistance) or a loose plug wire, maybe a flaky run/kill switch...that's all I got...
WD 40 isn't flammable you need starting fluid or propane gas to find a leak.
Check your exhaust for leaks also

Ummmmm.....WD-40 IS flammable. It says it right on the can.....EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. As a kid, I used to torch garden spiders with it at night and watch them fall on fire.
eddie, don't know anything about your tuner but when you backfire through the exhaust it is usually an indication of too much fuel and the unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust. As for stalling after the backfire, again that is an indicator of too much fuel. I would guess your plugs are getting sooted from the extremely rich condition and fouling out. Kinda like leaving the choke on too long. let it cool, pull the plugs and I bet you will find black sooted carbon fouled plugs indicating the tuner is too rich.
