Needing a new headset for 3/4 helmet. Have J&M now that has broke 2 in the last 3 years, and the sound quality is not that good anyway. Looking for an upgrade in both quality and durability.
I bought a Sena SM20 recently to replace a J&M wired headset I'd had for years. The Sena is bluetooth so you would need a source for music. Can't use the CB or intercom as currently connected but I never do anyway. Sound quality is really good; of course, limited bass response but it's clear as a bell otherwise. Plenty of volume and battery life is great. Depends on what you're looking for. I tried the HD Boom headset and ditched it right away. If I had to go with wired, I'd go back to J&M.
I bought the Scala Rider G9 set 3 years ago and they have been ultra reliable. I mounted them in our 3/4 helmets with the large foam cover and there is NO wind noise. The set was 500 bucks and it remains the best 500 bucks I've spent on the Hogs.
I have had the Harley wired set,the first one went bad but they upgraded them. My dislike is the wires tucked into the helmet sometimes dangle and the velcro on the speakers let go and I have to fuss with tucking stuff back in before I put the helmet on. I just ordered a Nolan N40 helmet with the headset installed and the wire lead for a Harley. We shall see how that works out.
I've been really pleased with the Sena SMH10 in my Shoei J-Cruise. Like hamnhog said about the SM20, volume is plenty and sound quality both coming and going is great. I've been using slacker radio to play music from my phone through the bluetooth connection.
+1 on the scala G9 . Had them for 2.5 yrs and never been disappointed. Been through heat and monsoon rain with no issues. They have 2 newer models out, but mine work great so haven't felt the need to upgrade. Happy with them on full and half helmets, don't see a reason why they work just as well on a 3/4.
We have J&M Elite series for least 5 years sounds better then anything else we've tried, never tried blue tooth because it doesn't work with all the function on factory radio. Our new bikes are blue tooth compatible but still no CB capability on the blue tooth headsets.

Thanks for the replies. The Bluetooth stuff won't work because we use the CB all the time. Might look into the ED products, or I might just put the HD one's that came with the bike. I had taken them out to put in the J&M's, and after listening to them again, I think they have better sound than the J&M's do.
