I have a LRS light tinted windshield and it's fine at night. I wouldn't want the dark tinted one at night though.

If he orders again, he is 6'1", he will order the 18" light tint elite.

From LRS in answer to my questions:
Another piece of important info is that our shields are 1/2" shorter than what we say they are. Our 16 is really 15 1/2", our 18 is really 17 1/2", etc. The top of the shield should be level with between the tip of your nose and mouth. You want to be looking over the shield by just a couple of inches. Be sure it's not lower than mouth level.

Well, I have a way to make it a lot easier to decide. Our Elite polycarbonate does not come in medium tint. Just Clear, light or dark. Here are the light and dark tints.

I'm looking at getting one for 09 RKC but can't decide on height because I ride 2 up and don't want to put wind in passenger face. There is a guy with an 18" for sale on forum because it put the wind in his wife's face.

My 2 up rides just fine with the 18" Elite and Hammock Seat. I am 6, she is 5'7". I added the H-D chrome fork lowers. With our set up, we are both having a great ride.

But her favorite add-on is the bluetooth!

I see over the 18" and I ride all winter so I get to ride in the dark a lot. The 16" would be too low for me for practical riding, rain riding 2 up riding, but looks more proportional on the bike. My light tint 18" is shorter than the stock by 2-1/2" and the lip does a great job of pushing the wind envelope away from both of us up to freeway speeds. I had some minor buffeting at 75 with the 20" stock, zero with the 18" elite.

I had an 18 incher dark from www.longrideshields.com on my 07 FLHRS when it was sold.
LRS makes different sizes, so I'm sure you will find one that works for you.

I have the LRS tented shield on my RK. I got the 18" so I have no issues seeing over it. It has the the recurve at the top so the shorter length isn't a issue.
