Screaming Eagle Race Tuner and pc III are both used for tuning on a EFI harley. A pc III can be used on multiple bikes and a SERT is only going to work on the first bike it is set on. From what I have read here. My bike has a carb, so I have no experience with either. I juts spend a lot of time on this forum.

There's always something new to learn here for sure, I'm on multiple times a day and have learned a TON about H-D's in general and about my bike in particular. You guys are my heroes!
Yes a PCIII or SERT lets you fine-tune your bike's motor and air/fuel,etcvia a DynoTuner to get optimum performance.
You will find dozens (literally) of discussions on this very topic if you use the search function in this forum.
I found most to be very thorough and more technical than I need...but good stuff to understand. TON's has been written about this...and you'll see many many points of view from poeple who sure sound like they know what they are doing! (unlike me)
I ran PCIII on my prev bike and it was very straight forward...
The SERT, I do know, essentially is an interface that gets the tuner (a person) access to the stock EFI Module and reconfigures based on the tuner's inputs. It also is forever "paired" with that bike...not really a good thing IMHO.
My general sense is that it (SERT) is more "precise" than making a PCIII work...though a PCIII DOES work just fine....and can be done yourself...uses a bit of a workaround to account for the 02 sensors on 2007 bikes, though. It is nice that a PCIII can be disconnected easily if you every wanted to use it on a diff bike...and again, you can have the right map pre-loaded on the unit and just "plug-n-play" when you get it. Also - as I understand it, if you are so inclined, you can plug her into your laptop and get all analytical on it and s**t...but I'd rather ride.
That's as far as I've gone thinking about this very same question.
If I had to choose right now...I'd go the PCIII route for what I plan to do...I am not after any intense build...just pipes, A/C, and fuel/air mixture module (PCIII or SERT).
I have to admit - the ThunderMax stuff is VERY cool...a bit more technical but the "self tune/adjust" feature is appealing! Confusing, eh?
