I would agree with the Custom Dynamics. If you were just looking at a single LED bulb for a replacement, don't bother. Tried 2 different types on a lay down taillight that you cannot use a regular bult on. Bright in the center of the lens but the rest was pretty dim. It was not safe in my opinion so off it went and now have a full LED brake light on both my wifes bike and mine.
I agree, tired the replacement led bulb, was not impressed!
I use a Radianz LED smoked laydown kit. I really like it and it"s quite a bit less expensive than the others.
The biggest advantage to going LED is not the brightness of the bulb it's the the speed that it illuminates compared to a filament bulb. It's virtually instant on while a filament has to heat up before it glows. We're talking milliseconds here but when you consider how far a vehicle going 60 MPH can travel in a few milliseconds any LED tail light could save your life.
It looks like the Custom Dynamics taillight has to have the triple play unit added to get the flash modes. The BAL1 comes with it integrated so about $50.00 cheaper for the same setup.

Do they offer a life time warranty on led failure?
Waiting for my setup from CD to arrive tomorrow. There lifetime warranty and their customer support is what sold me. Either way LED tail lights and headlights are the way to go.

Looks like they have a 5 year warranty. I'm looking to replace my stock light and undecided on which one. Did you get the flasher setup?
I have the Custom Dynamics "Dynamic Ringz" and they are pretty sweet. It is a hyper-white halo while driving, which switches to an amber cluster when turn signal is activated. You will need a Load Equalizer which you can also get from Custom Dynamics or from Badlands. Since you have everything apart, I would also get the "Brake Light Strobe Module", it is a little plug-n-play box which allows you to program different signals when pressing the brake. For example, it can blink 3X when pressing, then blink 3X every 5 seconds while brake is pressed. the module has 10 or so modes and really gets people's attention at night.
Ride Safe and Ride Often. Rubber Side Down. Over and Out.
If you want a really bright tail light, yet really inexpensive, you can call the folks at http://superbrightleds.com and ask them for the brightest dual intensity red replacement bulb for your bike.
I think it will be something under $10, really bright, and its just a matter of swapping the existing bulb
