And the touring chassis feels lighter while riding.
It's the illusion of "all that stuff".
FWIW, the Road King only comes in 5 lbs lighter than the EGC.
There is a difference in center of gravity and it's way more than a perceived 69 lbs.
My Road Glide was totaled Feb 14 and I bought the bike back from his insurance company and built a Road King out of the salvage ( see Avatar / before and Sig Line / After pics.)
The handling difference from the reduction in top heaviness is profound IMO. I throw the new bike around like a sport bike by comparison. (And leaving the lowers on board affords me a remarkable amount of weather protection - almost as good as the fairing.)
I can say with certainty that a road King is way easier to throw around than a Electra Glide Classic. I used one for a week while they had my EGC in for warranty and it was fun to ride. I did miss the radio and the extra protection he fairing adds.
It is a great choice to consider in my opinion and you can get a pretty decent deal on one if you look around.
Good luck.
Put 75K on my 07 traded it the man that bought it had 85K on last time I saw it.
Bike was good to me with no issue other than a crossover pipe crack warrantied and radio issue warrantied. 07 11K might be high considering what else is out there with the post 09 frame
