Curious...
I have a stock 14 SG with V&H Twin slash oval slip-ons.
Due to the heat here in Tucson (110 degrees today) I am considering removing the cat. I also welcome a bit more sound.
I can not afford to buy true duals.
If I put the slip-ons back on without removing/altering the baffles, would that be a bad mistake?
I read that the O2 sensors can cross talk w/o the cat, is this going to be an issue?
Would the sound become too abnoxious?
Would I be wasting my effort of removing the CAT if I put the unaltered slip-ons back on?
I apologize if these are stupid questions. Any insight is welcome.
PS.. I will buy a fuel management system like the Power Vision
I recently did this. I have the same slip-ons, v&h naked air filter, and a FP3. The bike has cooled down some. It is just a little louder, but it just may sound deeper and actually not any louder. This is on a 2014 Limited.....John

I am kinda new to bikes... so what is a V&H Naked Air Filter?
Your slip-ons will be slightly louder without the cat, than with the cat.... It will not be a major difference in the sound. It certainly won't make your slip-ons go from acceptable to obnoxious........
There have been many threads debating the cross talk issue of an OEM head pipe with the cat removed. It seems possible, but I have no experience with that.
If you do a search, you will find that in these cross talk threads, several people who've done it, post that their experience has been that their bikes run great with no cross talk issues...
Am I happy removing the cat? Yes I am, my wife is happier! I did it on a take off header, saving my original, if I want to put it back on.....John
So if I understand you, you took off the header pipe with the cat inside and put it in storage and bought a new header? Isnt that the same as buying a totally new exhaust?
Got a link to the exact part I should consider?
