Default What causes this?

When I start the bike (noticing it in the mornings) it will fire right off, and then idle way down about 5 seconds after that and if I don't get on the throttle a little bit it'll die. Kind of a new thing that recently started happening.

(sorry, i had a video to post, but cant' get it to work).

2009 FLHX

Thanks guys.

you might try disconnecting the connector behind the ac, clean and reconnect

I've never had the problem but I've read the TCA connector can get dirty and cause problems.

If that doesn't work, clean the IAC with carb cleaner and check for smooth motion when the key is turned on.

But use Throttle Body Cleaner. There is a difference.

look for "sensor safe" labeling

also make sure the rubber plug shown in the pic above ( #2) is in place on the throttle body- if you have a CA model a rubber hose will be on that fitting

That bike does not have an IAC but do clean the intake and ensure the little black cap pictured as number 2 in the above photos is still there.

I lost one of those caps on a trip once..... hard to start and sometimes a backfire that would sound like a gunshot. Sent a log to Tmax, (I was running their tuner) and they told me it was missing.
Now I carry a spare, you never know
