2009 Ultra, Fuel Moto stage 1 S. E. air cleaner, PCV.
When starting the bike I wait for the check engine light to go off before I hit the starter. Bike starts right up but in about 3 seconds the light comes back on and stays on for 10 seconds and goes back off. Stays off until the next time I start the bike. I checked for codes and there are none. It just started doing it this weekend and I'm getting ready to go on vacation in a couple days. It runs fine with no other issues. Just wondering if anyone knows what can be done to eliminate this. BTW I did pull the connector to the throttle body and cleaned and dielectric greased it. Thanks in advance for any help.
I bought a used 04 CVO electraglide about 7 months ago. It does the same thing. I asked my wrench at the indy shop I go to and he told me its nothing. as long as the bike runs fine. he has serviced the bike twice already for me and there is nothing wrong with the bike. i guess it can be old stored codes, but he hasn't said anything to me like that

you don't really need to wait for the cel to go out before starting the bike. esp. if you have a power commander on it. just give it a good second for the fuel system to prime.
what happens if you start without waiting for the light to go out?
There's a historic code that's stored that hasn't been cleared. Once it's cleared the light will stop coming back on after you've started the bike. You should be able to clear the code yourself.
[QUOTE=SBates08;14180810]What you are describing sounds like a stored code in the ECM.
Another question, so if there is a stored code in the ECM it won't show in the diagnostic program? Like I said, there are no codes when I enter the diagnostic mode on the speedo.
