The max air pressure is listed on the side of the tire. I run 38.

Metzler recommends 2.5 bar (36PSI) front and 2.8 bar (40-41PSI) rear. I just had one installed on my RG Ultra a few weeks ago, running the rear at 40

Max PSI on the rear 888 for my bike 180/65/16 is 50. It was like riding on a board. I prefer the Michelin Commander II to the 888 as it feels a bit softer and has a lower max PSI. I get about the same mileage out of both but will always choose Michelin first. I got the Metzeler as the Michelin was on back order when I needed a tire.

I just ordered Avon Cobra's for mine, Avon gives application specific guidelines for PSI (solo, two-up light, two-up heavy). I'm guessing Metzeler has similar guidelines for their tires.

Dont confuse the Metz 888 with the 880. The Triple 8 does come in 2 different models, the standard and the reinforced. Rear on the standard 41, rear on a reinforced 50. The 888's at 50 psi ride rough and are slippery. They will give you about 1000 miles more in the rear then the Dunlops. I couldnt' wait to get off my Heritage. The Commander II's are better, but not much.

Is recommended 50psi? If so I can see why it rode like a board. Mine at 40psi rides fine. I personally can't tell much of a difference from the Dunny, other than it left me with more beer money. I run at 40psi alone and 2up. Okay for me, I dunno?

A maximum PSI on the tire does NOT mean you run the tire at that pressure....it means do not over inflate over that setting....you run the tire with pressures the vehicle likes.....

take a look at your car tires...the maximum PSI is well over the recommended tire pressure in the manual...which is usualle 38psi.

If I remember, the Metz site suggests even more then 50 psi on the rear reinforced 150/16. I rode it for 2 seasons at 2 lb increments lower down to 41 lbs, rode rough and slippery.

Possibly the reinforced carcass was the issue then. I got a 180/65/16 ME888 and I've not noticed any harshness over what the factory Dunny had. I don't find it alippery either so maybe it was the size construction combo. I'm not sure. But if I had found it hard and slippery I'd definitely never use it again. Even in the wet I have no complaints.
