This pipe is growing on me, I may just keep it.
I'm wondering about the ghost pipe.
Does it have a pipe with a pipe with a heat shield over it, or is it a straight chrome pipe with a thing on the end that looks like a muffler?
How does it attach to the bike/
specifically, will I need to reinstall the black exhaust mounting plate that was used to hold the stock exhaust, just over the starter on the left side of the bike?
Anyone with pictures would be very appreciated.
Yes you will need to put the black bracket that bolts to the starter back on, and yes it has a heat shield and even a dummy baffle so it looks right from the rear. It is built just like the working one and bolts in the rear under the bag, and to the swingarm pivot plate, and the stock braket on the starter. It matches up real close to the working pipe, it's funny watching people look at the two into one on the right side and trying to figure out the pipe going to the left side from the rear cylinder. I personally don't like the look of one pipe on a bagger, seems like the bag is way too high on the left side, and the bike looks lower with the pipe on. It is the same ouallity as the real pipe and should only take a few minutes to bolt on with 4 bolts.
Thanks,
the reason I'm asking, is I'm heading to Sturgis this summer.
I'll be looking for a vendor with the pipes on sale and if I find it there, I want to make sure I have everything I need and didn't leave any of it at home.
Do I use any of the stock pipe clamps or are they all with the Ghost pipe?
If I leave here with the bracket installed and some wrenches and locktite am I good to go?
I was going to go with the D&D and Ghost but the factory was having some bending issues and I went with the Thunderheader and Ghost. I tossed my Rinehart 2-1, hated the look. Liked both the Fat Cat and Thunderheader.
Fit & finish of the FC ghost pipe is the same high qualityas the original & looks great IMO. As mentioned above, you will need thebracket abovethe starter to bolt up to. I alsoneeded the Kuryakynpassenger floorboard extensionto clearance OL's Kury adj passenger footpeg on that side, but if you don't have the pegs this should be a non-issue.
