You can also consider V&H Dresser duals for 2009. They should fit and have the old 18mm fittings.

What's your definition of true duals? & Why would you say the S&S are not?

True duals have completely separate and dedicated piping for each jug. S&S has a small block (crossover) that joins the 2.

The main reason I'm looking for "true" duals is for the sound. I haven't heard the S&S so not sure on how the sound changes with that small crossover in place.

It may sound perfect but just don't know. That's what is making this a tough decision.

Yeah my buddy next door has a 2010 SG and another has a 2009. They both installed dresser dual and 3.5'' Rineharts at about the same time. When they both decided to install a ThunderMax the one next door found out he had to have new bungs welded in to a relatively new set of pipes. The guy who did the work said he could've saved a few dollars and waited and installed pipes for a 2009.

I got ya.
I was meaning for the question to go to (just plain john).
The S&S Power Tune Duals are true duals. Actually it's a header pipe you mount the slip ons of your choice. There is no crossover pipe. The left pipe comes off the #1 cylinder(fwd) and goes underneath the bike in front of the rear wheel, but it is not connected to the #2(rear) cylinder at any point. Thus, a true dual system. By installing true duals, you will not only have great sound, but better performance. I had my bikes dynoed & tuned after installation. Which is recommended. The bike runs like a raped ape!!
Good luck with your choice. Don't cheap out. After installing duals. Get it tuned!!

This is not true. They do have a hidden crossover or balance chamber that connects the 2 pipes. Mine is right at the trans case. Regardless, I do like the pipe and the unique sound.

Default True Duals: Cannot Decide!!!!

Just installed Dragos h-pipe. Great quality and ceramic inside/out. Looks and sounds like true duals without the power loss. Has the O2 sensors. I've read that Rush makes them to his specs but no issues with the rear brake linkage.

The Rinehart Classic Duals are interesting but I cannot find anywhere whether or not they have the 18mm bungs.

- Only issue....seems you can only use their slip-ons due to the size of the pipes. Not necessarily a bad deal but takes away any future options.

This discussion is really helping!
