I know that there are several guys local to me that are set up with the equipment needed to achieve professional results. They can coat both inside & outside. I would rather pay them to do it right. Otherwise, for a typical hobbyist, it would cost much more to do it yourself, by the time you get the material & equipment for applying and baking it.
I do know that places like Summit sell the coatings but don't know much about them or the results you can achieve using them. Good luck if you try it!

EDIT: Dang, come to think of it, just running the engine would likely bake it on better than an oven.

Whats on the pipes currently and what color are you trying to do them in? Also, generally when you're referring to coating pipes, "as good" doesn't exist. They're either coated properly or not....... The "or not" is what becomes expensive to remedy....

Nonsense!

If you sand blast the old finish off of the pipe and make sure it's clean and ready to take a finish, you can achieve perfect, long lasting results with VHT Ceramic Header Paint, I have done it multiple times.

The main thing people screw up is in the surface prep and that is why they wind up with problems.
The owner of the coating shop that I use for powder and ceramic coatings has told me that he is more than impressed with the finish I get on my pipes with header paint and that it is a good inexpensive alternative to having them C/coated.

These pipes were both done with header paint, both are still looking great months later.
I did the pipe in the first photo and another guy here did the T-Header in the second photo 2 years ago.

I had my mufflers and shields ceramic coated locally for under $100. been holding up great for last couple years. If ya do proper surface prep, have proper gun and oven along with following instructions I see no reason it can't be done. Of course buying the proper equipment really isn't cost effective for a couple sets of headers...

Had the dual headers, two mufflers and two heat shields Jet Coated for $250. Looks great and no issues. The amount of time the proper surface prep is going to take you (at home) plus the materials I think it would be a wash. For the same money I am OK letting someone else have the fun.

I was considering using a duracoat product on my last bike before I sold it, it does not look like it would have been that difficult to apply. They even have a step by step on the website.

I tried caramacote on my old FXR - it wasn't anything better than paint - real ceramic coatings do insulate - not that ....

currently just stock. i'd prefer silver. i was looking at the Eastwood inside and out. i dont expect a professional job but i would like some benefit and not just a different color. but yeah i have seen plenty that do the prep right have a good result but that was with paint not ceramic
