Default Need Insite on lowering or not

I've been reading for a few months now about different shocks and what's out there. I've decided to go with Howard and all the advice and education he gave me today over the phone. But at the end of the day I still have to make the decision of wether or not to go for a stock height or a 1" dropped set up. I don't have an issue putting my feet on the ground unless the road is banked where I stop. And I have Baddad bags and fender. My main concern is I worry that I will drop into a corner with the new lowered setup and mess up my bags. I do have the steel plates under my bags. Or leaving a parking lot and mess up my fender. So I'd like your opinion of which setup you guys would choose. Are my concerns not really that significant due to only being an inch or are they valid?

And just to say, if you've never spoken with Howard, he's not only a Vietnam Vet but a genuinely awesome guys to talk to. Thanks for your service Howard.

I am not so sure I would lower a Street Glide, the rear shocks are low to start with, and
not a lot of travel to begin with. Howard sells a great product, if he gave you any advice
take it.

i have 4.5" extended bags with #3-#3 ohlins from howard. firstly the shocks are awesome! they ride like a dream and no more throwing you outta your seat hitting railroad tracks and such. #3-#3's are the longest and when you set up the sag they sit a little lower than stock SG shocks. if you get the lowered shocks you will not only rub, you will rub enough to rip off the bags. i had 1" lowering blocks with the #3-#3's and almost did turning at a 4 way stop. i can make the bags drag now but they hit when the floorboards hit so not going any further than that, i hope! make some sliders and you shouldnt have anything to worry about. plus the sliders help when you take the bags off adjusting the shocks to have something to sit them on . lowered looks a lot better but not worth it. if you have to have lowered i'd go with air suspension. i talked to howard and im surprised he didnt talk you into the #3-#3 instead of the lowered #3-#1! it only took me 20 minutes on the phone with him spouting off numbers to change my mind

Hey recommended the 2-2B's for me. He left it up to me if I wanted the stock height or an inch lower. But having heard from you guys I'm for sure not lowering it. I am not dead set on lowering it at all. Just I've only been riding street bikes for a year, so every time I ask a question I get great guys like you who tell me answers to questions I didn't even know to ask. Thanks guys.

Who is this Howard ? Sounds like a wizard

I went with the cheapo lowering blocks and regret it. I'm short so for now I pretty much need me but I just don't know what shocks I want. I haven't extended my bags for that reason. I was thinking of getting SG shocks. Then thought of burly slammers....then came along ohlins.

The stock shocks can be lowered by bitchinbaggers.com for far less than a set of Ohlins. Of course if Ohlins are what you want in the first place, then go for it. I had my rears lowered to 11.25" and they work fine and no dragging on turns. I used a set of Arlen Ness dampner tubes to lower the front 1.5" for the big wheel.

Lower the seat not the suspension. Mean City Cycles.

Lower the seat. You will miss that travel. The ride will be harsher.
