I have a 2007 Ultra Classic that needs a new windshield and I am looking at a Clearview. My question is should I get one with a vent or no vent? Love to hear from some of you with experience with either or both. Thanks in advance for your time.
Mike
I would get one with the vent. It does the same thing as the vent on the new bikes does, it helps to keep the air behind the windscreen from shaking your head. Mines either a ten inch or a eight inch I forget what size but it works great.

Thanks I thought it should help and I'm also thinking it would be nice on these hot Missouri summer days
I have been running clearviews for years and very happy with them. I had a rock hit one at 75 and caused a small star crack so I replaced that shield with a 10" vented recurve. I got the windshield bag option on the vent and in my opinion it is an inch too high. I think the vent is ugly but it works well stabilizing the air behind the shield and it is nice having the breeze on a hot day. I haven't ridden with it in the rain yet so I have no input on that.
Clearview shields with the vent and recurve on my 07 UC from day one worked really well wind buffeting and even radio sounded better with vent slightly open. Rode that bike 98K miles with the same shield and it still looked good. Gave a test ride at Sturgis to their new 14 and up EG shields with the vent but it didn't improve any thing but they thank me for test riding it and giving them the feed back.
Have had several of their windshields, vented and non-vented, vented is the way to go with the recurve,
I'm 5'11 and use the 17inch shield, I like to see over it. I had one a get spider crack from around a lower
mounting bolt, not sure if it was caused from overtightening bolt a little to much and over time it cracked,
or from taking it on and off?
Get the vent! Best money you will ever spend. My experience is the vent does about nothing for rider comfort during the hot summer but really helps with air up the tunnel on a RG. Much less buffeting on my bikes.
