Default AUX Port / Cable Help!

I just recently purchased a 2012 Street Glide! I am in love! I mostly have been using my iPhone to play music. I have been just running a AUX cable from the head unit to my rear bags. does anyone have suggestions as to where I can permanently run a cable for this. I haven't taken anything apart on this bike yet.. is it simple to just loosen the tank and remove the seat and run the cable? or any other suggestions as to what I should do.. id like to just run a mount from my bars and run a short cable to the head unit, but LifeProof doesn't really make a mount for the Iphone 6+ yet atleast.

thanks in advance!

A lot of guys keep the phone in a pocket or windshield bag and run tunes through Bluetooth. Running a wire under the tank isn't hard, but not the prettiest either. What quite a few folks have done is bought a Bluetooth receiver and just Velcro it to the fairing with a very short (6") cord to the aux port and they can take it on/off if needed and don't have to unplug phone every time you stop.

I used one for a few months before I upgraded to an aftermarket blue tooth head unit and never had a problem with it. Used it on a couple of 10+ hours days and it never died. They run anywhere from $25 - $40 brand new and work great, easy to find at Best Buy, amazon or fleabay. If you wanna try it shoot me a PM - mine's just sitting around collecting dust and you can have it for the cost of shipping.

I'm using a Bluetooth receiver bought at Best Buy. Just velcroed it to my inner fairing. It's about the size of a matchbook. It can go up and down in volume but not tracks, that's the only downfall. One thin little wire into aux. port and throw the iPhone in my bags or pocket.

Some use a magnetic tank bag, but know that phones cook under plastic windows. I used one for a short time; i needed to shield the phone though. I quickly upgraded everything and now connect w/ blutooth.

Removing tank is very easy. Can be heavy if full!

Yes tank comes off easy couple bolts in front(one each side) and one in rear. Gas line is has quick disconnect so no issues there. I have a Gen 3 Nano iPod in my right saddlebag using USB cable but you could run a 3.5mm mini Aux plug. I found long cables(6ft) on ebay cheap. Here's a pic of my iPod in saddlebag give you idea.

I keep my phone handy- maps- use them all the time

I use an isimple interface for the phone - it charges and gives me a 1/8" stereo plug for the aux in
( used $25)

with change to the new iphone I had to get the apple 30 pin to lightning adapter.

online under $10

a "better" solution, although more expensive are the offerings from iron cross audio

I test rode a CVO with the harley ipod adapter and I found it required my eyes off the road too much.

sometimes i just keep the phone in my pocket...and use earbuds- I have pro in-ear buds which block out road noise and keep the music in for an overall lower listening volume.

I also have a headphone out on my radio and sometimes use that

Hook one of these up, it allows you to also control the tracks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171761490707...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I adapted one of the new lifeproof Iphone 6 Belt clips to be a handlebar phone mount on my bike. I wish Lifeproof would make the style like they made for the previous cases.

$25.00 Bluetooth from best buy zip tied to handlebars. Sounds great.

This is my adapted lifeproof belt clip that was modified using the Techmount bar clamp and one of their old iphone 5 mounts. It was the only viable solution to mount my Iphone 6 that holds it securely and allows the functionality that I needed.
