Default water in oil

I just changed my oil and noticed it contained water. What would cause this? I have an open Air cleaner which I never cover while washing and was caught in a downpour a while back.My oil cooler does have a thermostat and works correctly.

Model? Do you start it up & shut it down a lot without getting up to operating temperature?

You ain't riding enough to get the moisture out of it? If it sits around and/or you only do short little putts to the store and such, it will moisture up and the oil will look milky. Go for a half our ride and it will cook the moisture out.

I usually go for a good ride and oil gets up to operating temp of around 190.

Just to be sure we're all on the same page, what did you see that makes you say you find water in the oil when you did an oil change?

The oil had around 3500 miles but was milky brown in color.

You said that you "usually" go for a good ride. All it takes is a few shorter trips to the grocery store to cause the water to build up in the crankcase and oil pan.

But, if what he is describing is accurate, that is way more than a few drops of condensation...
