........On a RK Classic ??? Without doing anything to the front end. Will this mess with handling too bad? And if it is alright to do how far can one drop it until you comprimise ride/handling.
The SG's come lowered 3/4 from the factory and it is basically a RK with an Ultra front. They handle ok IMO I have lowered the front. I will sacrifice a little ride for what I THINK better handling. You will find that many will disagree but that is why the call it opinion!
I put 12" progressive 440 shocks on my RK Classic which obviously drops the rear 1", I did nothing to the front. The bike handles the same and the ride is much better.
I just put in the Legends Air Suspension and LOVE IT!! Yes, I know it costs a few pennies, but if great and gives you many options. Pumped all the way up for two up riding or slammed for cruising!!
When the back is dropped, it gives the illusion that the front is also dropped a little.
I used the BURLEY drop links in the rear. Probably dropped the rear and inch and 3/4. Play with the air in the air shocks to fine tune the ride height.
no handling problems with the bike. may scrape the floorboards a little but who cares.
My rk custom, like the SG, comes factory lowered. Actually the aggressive look is what sold me. The front has the factory standard height. I have no plans on doing anything else to lower her (but reserve the right to change my mind). Since she came to me this way, and this is my first harley, I can't comment on the handling, but I am pleased. I scrape boards from time to time, but serves as a good way to wake me up. lol
I put the Low Profile Touring Shocks on my Road King Classic creating a "Street King" as Streetrunner calls it. Very pleased with the look, and the handling was unchanged. I found that I needed to run 20 lbs pressure in them to avoid bottoming out on hard bumps (I should mention that I weigh 250 lbs though).

Not only is it fine, it feels great and looks great too. You can go down down as far as you want (until you start scraping that is..... that's why I moved my rear wiring harness : )
