mine does exact same thing. mostly after i am off throttle going down a long hill then when i start to get on it i hear the exact same noise. if i really get on the throttle it will go away after a few seconds. im stumped. bike runs perfect though. its just that noise under these circumstances. hope u figure it out. ive heard other guys describe this on this forum. dont sound like detonation to me. detonation sounds like pinging to me.

I ran it to an Indy and he heard the noise. He said it was most likely valve chatter and to check pushrods, which I did several times since the noise started. I'm thinking it's the next thing which is a bad lifter? I used woods lifters on the build. I'm going to go 3 turns on the pushrods first and see if she quiets down

If the noise is throttle and load sensitive, my money says you're hearing pinging and the only way you're going to get rid of it is - higher octane fuel, lower operating temperature, or retard the ignition timing a bit. You really don't have much control over the first two so you're left with the timing adjustment.

I've had to take out as much as 4 degrees of timing to eliminate the pinging in my bike (2011 Ultra Limited w/103). It pinged from the day it was new until I adjusted the timing.

I'm with ya on this, at least try a higher octane fuel.
