I'm running the same setup of header and muffs on my Limited. It does the same thing. I use windex to get them clean. The discoloration comes back after about a week of riding. I have no exhaust leaks or intake leaks. Just remember "they all do that."

Mine does it as well, always has. Left side has way more exhaust soot than the right. It's pretty normal on an exhaust with a cross over.

Hell mine does it on both pipes since day 1. On two different bikes even.

Bitch to keep clean too. Thinking about having the end caps powder coated.

Default End Caps

I think when they manufacture the mufflers, they use oil on the parts that have to be expanded so that the dies will slide against the metal. That oil isn't completely wiped off at time of manufacturing. It will stay with you for a while and I wiped mine down after each ride for a while. I also used Simple Green on them to clean the notches in the end cap. An old soft toothbrush works well to clean them.
Mine still turn colors but not as much or as often as when they were new.

Mines been running that way for 4 years. Nothing to worry about, it's normal. I have many Bud's running the same set-up and they all do it.

OK - makes me feel better about it. I'll clean it and see if it evens out between the right and the left sides after the next few rides, but sounds like - if it runs well, nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys!

Since you have hardly ridden your bike, its probably oil residue. The yellowing and blueing is usually caused by excessive heat from a lean running condition or a exhaust leak. Check your exhaust mount for the rear cylinder. If it keep happening, have a tech look at it. I'm not familiar with the new power visions but I believe they have an auto tune feature as well.

The exhaust leak question makes me think - maybe I should have changed the gaskets? I kept the original ones because they had less than 100 miles on them, so I figured they are good as new....

I always change the exhaust gaskets if I remove the head pipe. For the small cost it's worth it to me to avoid a leak. By the way, I've never had an exhaust leak.

My tech told me the muffler on the left side when running the power dual head pipe is the one that always has more residue. Don't think it's BS because he warned me of that even before mine is installed.
