It takes a lot of clean power to overcome the wind noise.
I have to disagree here with the short shield choice (as much as I like your bike) . I have a few LRS shields and they work great. But I am tired (just got off work) and maybe not understanding your point?

Hey Mike not saying the LRS product doesn't perform, referring to wind noise and stereos in general. I have two different shields I ride with, when I go for the longer hauls I put a Hammock seat on (immediately removing any cool factor on my bike) and a it sets me up 5" higher than the Danny Grey, so I also swap out to a 15" shield, the combination has me looking through. With the Danny Grey I run with a 6.5" klockwerx which I look over. Between the twoI get more wind noise on the DG, Klockwerx setup. My orginal setup was Arc Audio mini amp and Hertz 6x9 Hcx speakers, played good but I would loose clarity at the higher speeds (short shield and 70). I added some cycle sound bag lids with Polk db 691's later and swapped out to a RF PBR 300 x 4, in the garage the system was fantastic, at higher speeds on the highway you could hear it but a lot of the clarity was gone.
I put in a JL MHD 600 in, Audio Frog 6x9s in the Faring, and the Hertz in the bag lids, this setup is load and clear at any speed my bike runs with any shield. The aftermarket road king fairings have an advantage over glides, room, they have many more choices for amp selection, The reason the Sound Stream, ARC, Rockford Fosgate class D Amps are popular is that's what you can cram in the fairing on the glides. Here's a photo of JL and RF side by side. It's kinda like reading glasses, you don't know how much better you can see until you try some on.

Check these out:
https://www.deadcentercycles.com/

Not cheap but they offer a few different models and I have one on my 2013 RKC. The mold is a 100% match on the pre-Rushmore Batwing style from HD. Compatible with all brands of aftermarket shields.

Here's some pics:

They make several models for Roadkings, temporarily out of stock but they should get more soon.

Thanks on the heads up! Post pics when you can...

YEP, what he said...except I have one of his fairings. I bought all my own speakers, radio, and amp and sent it to him for install in the fairing!
