Lightbulb Mounting location for a Wolo 519

Has anyone ever tried to mount a Wolo 519 horn behind the front fender on the down tubes? My obvious concern is the front the fender hitting the horn! I have a 2011 Road Glide Ultra

I mounted mine in the stock location. I just unbolted the cowbell from the bracket that attaches to the stock mount and has been like that for about 3 or 4 months, no problems.

I would do that, but I am mounting a set of Ward's "Forced Convection" fans on the bike. I don't think the horn will work with the fan? I really need to get the horn first and then see how big it is. I may just mount the horn behind the saddle bag like others have done & call it day?

The air horns, like the Wolo, are heavy and provide only one mounting attachment. And that attachment is certainly not in any kind of balanced location from the weight standpoint. Personally I would not recommend mounting it to the stock horn bolt. That horn bracket will eventually crack due to continual flexing created by the extended weight of the air horn compressor. A replacement bracket is $30.

You can separate the compressor from the horn cone and mount them in separate locations on the bike. Of course they have to be connected by an appropriately sized plastic tubing to get the air to the horn cone.

These horns pull around 18 amps or so when activated, so running them through a remote relay, like a 30 amp automotive relay, is a must. A relay is usually supplied with in the horn package for this purpose. If you need more info on custom wiring, shoot me a pm and I will be glad to help.

The air horn is certainly a great safety enhancement for any motorcycle. The Roadrunner beep beep crap that comes stock sucks and nobody in a car will ever hear it.

I have had that same horn mounted in the original horn bracket for about 70,000 miles now. no problem with it there at all. I had the similar HD horn before and it crapped out pretty quick. The wolo horn still works great. Only downside, the round side cover came loose and rattled real bad for a long time before finally falling off on the road somewhere. As I said, it still works great, but cosmetically, not so great. I still like it and don't plan on changing it until it gives up, and then I'd replace it with the same thing.

Keep in mind mounting it on the down tubes as you are considering might block cooling air.
