If I may clarify for you. I didn't like having my feet so far away from the rear brake pedal and didn't find the forward position comfortable at all. I don't believe money was the cause of discomfort.
I've also found that spending the most money for a product doesn't guarantee that it will be the best although it seems to be your contention.

I was very close to buying adjustable pegs but decided to move my smaller mounts back towards the floorboards before I spent more $$ on the bike. Doing this gave me some more options for my feet and different positions which is awesome for long rides. Considering I'm 6'4, more options to stretch out are better.

I didn't say any such thing! If you had bought adjustable ones you would have had a much better chance of getting comfortable with them - that's all!
