I have a14 road King. With the 14 s they have they new 254 cams. I feel it pulls well in the low gears but loses power in the higher gears. What would be a good cam to use. I also have open pipes with fishtails. I use a power vision tuner. Thanks.
You must be shifting at a different rpm on the higher gears than on the lower ones because the bike doesn't know how fast it's going. There is, in my experience, only about 500rpm difference between gears anyway.
Different cams bring the power in at different rpms according to the cam profile i.e. lift, duration, overlap, etc.
Sounds like you just need to stay in the higher gears longer to build rpm before you shift.
If you have a tach on the bike, note your speed say 40mph in third gear. Then at 40mph down shift one gear and note the rpm, then go back to 3rd gear still at 40 and shift it into 4the gear and note the rpm.
All of this will help you find your power band on the bike.

The 14's don't come with 254 cams. They are new unnamed stock cam very close to the SE 255.
So... when picking your next cam, make sure you are comparing it to something like a 255 or TW222 which are very good low end cams but not great in the midrange/high.
