I know this is going to start a firestorm of good and bad information, but here goes. My 2005 Ultra has the D&D 2 into 1 with the "false" pipe on the other side.....I do not like the sound of this exhaust....it's not for me. With that said, I'm looking To go with something that has a louder deeper sound. I am looking at Bassani megaphones. Give me your opinions on true dual system or factory head pipe and slip ons. I realize I am giving up some power, but that's just the way it is.
By the way my exhaust is listed in the classified section for trade.
I think that sound is subjective with that being said I went with a Thunderheader on my first Harley and then went to D&D Boss Cat on my current ride. I can say that the sound of the Thunderheader was better than the D&D but, it was recommended by my Indy to go with so I followed his lead. I will say this, if you looking for more information or comments/ suggestions you might wanna post this over in the exhaust forum might have better luck.
The only reason I deal with the louder pipes is to get good performance from a motor.
As soon as I hear someone talking about "the sound" I just stop listening and turn my back on them.

What baffle is installed? The louvered is the quietest, i think. Could be just a baffle swap would satisfy you.
I am assuming it is the quiet baffle, only thing is I called them and their baffles are almost as much as others exhaust, and I still might not be happy.
[QUOTE=mkguitar;14700976]don't do anything until you go and hear some other bikes- some of the Guys here have wasted THOUSANDS of dollars on the wrong exhaust.
go hear bikes and see what appeals to you
I have a buddy that has a Bassani true dual setup and I like the tone of that. I am just curious how much power I will loose.....noticeable??? What about stock header pipe with Bassani mufflers....better same or worse?
