I've been doing a ton of research on fishtails for my 2004 RK Classic and can't find what I'm looking for. I want to install strait fishtails because I like the look. I don't like the torpedo fishtail mufflers. I also want to install BCT baffles. How in the world do you install the baffles in the fishtails? I understand you slide them through the front but how far and how do you tighten the nut to secure them in place? You would need a three foot wrench to hold the nut so you could tighten the nut on the outside. What am I missing?
I have never seen a baffle with nuts on the inside??? The "nut" is welded to the baffle or the baffle itself is threaded. But I haven't run any of them old school baffles for a long time...
Those are nice. They are more than I want to spend on the pipes. I like the looks of the samson silver bullets the most. The Samson, Bassani and cheap ebay ones look identical. I imagine the cheap ebay ones are lacking a good lasting chrome job put on the right way.
I will ask BCT. I've read that 6" from the end is best.
I have straight thru fishtails....cost about $100.......1 3/4".........the 8" baffles have a hole in one end...on the edge.........ya slide the baffle in, insert the bolt and use LITTLE fingers to hold it, ( i use those forcep things) while tightening
Ther are a couple of options out there for buying fishies with baffles in allready. My V&H have remove able baffles, and Sampson sales them with them welded in.
Just a thought for you.
