IDK about that - chargers push the current into the battery, the battery doesn't pull only what it needs. Try using a 10a car charger on your motorcycle battery and see what happens.

If that's the case, why can I charge my phone in half the time with the 2.4 amp than the 1 amp?

Sorry, guys, it's called a "load". The load draws current. A current source can only provide a specified maximum current no matter the load, and a load will only draw a specified maximum current no matter the source.

If a phone draws a max of two amps and you put it on a two amp charger it will draw two amps. If you put it on a one amp charger it will draw one amp. If you put it on a ten amp charger it will draw two amps.

If your phone charges twice as fast on a two amp charger then that's because it's drawing two amps. A one amp charger can only deliver one amp even if the phone wants two amps. If I put my Galaxy S5 on a cheapo charger I get a message on the screen that says "Your phone will charge faster if you put it on the correct charger".

Well that actually makes sense and I haven't even started drinking yet. Sounds like the 6s Plus supports 2 amps but they do ship it with a 1 amp charger. Probably saves them 15 cents on an $850 phone.

It turns out the galaxy phones have a battery monitoring circuit that limits charge rate to 2a (2000mA). That's why a bigger charger won't hurt it. But E=IR still holds for non-monitored batteries.

This is why I was going to try a 1 amp charger. If I charge it at half the rate it shouldn't build as much heat. You can put to many amps to a battery and they get hot. The one amp may not charge the battery while using Google maps but it may maintain the charge or keep it from discharging as fast.

Clearly you are not going fast enough to create enough of a breeze around your phone to keep it cool. I would recommend more throttle 😉

I read this and it works on my moto g,put your phone in airplane mode and see if your google maps still work, the gps feature is not married to your wireless signal, your battery usage will be much less as your phone isnt searching for a wi fi or 4g signal.
