Default Gps on cell

For those who use your gps on your phone how do you keep it charged? I can go on short rides fine but if I go for any length of time and have to charge it my phone over heats and shuts down.

For starters, Don't use tele-nav on your phone. It is a battery hog. Use Google Maps. Use the cigarette lighter to keep your phone charged.

Guess I should of said that differently. When I plug my phone in to keep it charged while using the gps it overheats and shuts down. I was really wondering how people charge their phones while using gps and keep them from overheating.

You may have a problem with your phone. I have used mine for a 12 hour Cali to Utah trip and had it plugged in the whole time.

I'm with Udawg! I've used a Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus religiously for navigation using Google Maps. Always plugged into cigarette lighter output and never had a problem.

You either have a bad phone or bad charging cable. I would start with charging cable first.

My iPhone never overheats to the point of shutting down. What kind of phone do you have?

When I went on my trip to NFL hall of fame, I kept the phone in my sadlebag and used wayz through bluetooth. I kept the phone plugged in to a usb port that plugs into the battery tender. Worked great. It did over heat on the way home in New Jersey. I let it cool down, and turned it back on. No problem
