Default Battery Tender

In my 13 street glide manual it says you shouldn't use a battery tender on these seald batteries. Will shorten the battery life. Being a battery tender rookie can anyone give me some info. Thanks and spring is already here in northeast Ohio. Watch out for the idiots and ride safe!!!

I bet you get people that will be on both sides of this, & will both have good reasons why they believe the way they do. I was given a tender with my bike so I will use it , the battery for my hot rod (86 turbo buick) I take out & keep in the basement & have no problems with it, I also have friends that swear by float chargers.

Use a battery tender with temperature compensation and you will be safe.

My '13 RK manual says something different on the automatic charger/tender. Might be referring to trickle chargers, which might not be as safe.

Been using a trickle charger for years without an issue on my bikes.. Harley puts the connection on there for that very purpose to maintain a charge during non riding seasons. It doesn't continually charge it just monitors and maintains. My last battery was 7 years old and not weak but i got it replaced anyways when it was in the shop for tires.

I just looked at my service manual 2014.. It says to use an automatic constant monitoring charger/ tender is recommended. The use of constant current chargers including trickle chargers is Not recommended...hope this helps swifty

I think you're confusing tender and charger.

I use a battery tender anytime my bike parks in the garage. Battery is going on 5 years and no issues.
