If you go to Progressive's website, there is plenty of information regarding the monotubes. I cannot speak for others.... just myself. I installed the monotubes myself and being ADHD, I took pics, measured tube lengths and also measured the distance from all points I could think of the ensure I didn't screw something up. When I was all done the "change" was maybe, at most, 1/4".
There is a toll-free number that you can call. Tell them your concerns. Let them help you.
As others have stated here and on other threads like this, the monotubes improve control, don't dip nearly as much when braking and cost me about $300 from Amazon I think. One of the best mods I have done was get rid of the OEM suspension front and rear. I'm sure, whatever decision you decide, will still be a big improvement over stock. Good luck.
So if you remove that one clip you have how much lower do you think you'll be below stock?

With 1 clip, I was maybe 1/2" lower from stock, with 2 clips I was 1/4" from stock. Looking at the bike, you don't see it or feel it as geometry dictates, even a 1/2" in the front will only change the center axis, 1/4".
Like I said, please call Progressive. 1-877-690-7411.
Yeah when I installed mine the drop was 1 full inch. You had mentioned something about messing with the fork screw with pressure on the tire...what's that about?
