when i went from a road king (with no oil pressure gauge) to a roadglide that did have one, i practically had a coronary when i saw the oil pressure go down to less than 10, esp, when i was riding 50 mph. dealer checked it out, everything checked out okay. never had any problem with that bike. i also found that different oils would yield different pressures, even though rated at same viscosity.
on my cvo, redline 20w-60 over 32 psi @ 2000 rpm
changed to mobil 1 15w-50, pressure is now 30 psi @ 2000 rpm.
next oil change, probably go back to the redline. this time, funds were tight and didn't want to spend the $18 per qt on the redline. i've used mobil1 in the past, so i have no issue using it now.
If your putting in more heavy oil to get higher oil pressure ... its failed thinking.
The higher the oil pressure simply means the slower the oil is moving through the engine, the slower the oil moves, the hotter your bearings get. )
Look at high oil pressure in an engine, just as you would high blood pressure in a human. The higher the pressure (do to heavy oil or clogged arteries) simply means the harder the pump has to work, the harder the pump has to work the slower the fluids move through the "system".

Thats absolutely normal and what should happen loosing a few lbs oil HOT pressure when you switch from a heavier to a lighter grade oil like you did with your bike.
But in general unless your riding in cold temp HD's 20w-50 is where you want to be & if riding in extreme heat like >100+ deg F out west in AZ & CA spectro's 25w-60 is a good option too.

I'm riding in la. 100+ temps are a regular occurrence in the summer, and even in the winter, it doesn't get that cold here.
