As I like the look of 21" front wheels, the bikes are engineered for 19" wheels and when you move up in size, 9 times out of 10 you encounter some type of mechanical or riding issue.
The guys who do it swear there's no difference but if I spent that kind of money on a wheel, I wouldn't complain either.
Flame away, it can't get any hotter on this hot SC day.........
Oh,sorry for your ABS issue but like others said, contact the vendor where you bought the wheel from for assistance.
Resurrecting this old post - has anyone else had this issue on a 2009-2013 Road King?
I recently purchased the OP's bike and he did not replace DNA's wheel bearing but I plan on doing so this weekend with an OEM. Just wanted to see if this has been a problem for anyone else and what their resolution was?
Finally got around to doing this and wanted to update for anyone who has a similar issue in the future.
Installed two new HD bearings in the front wheel, purchased the 80$ install tool and it was a breeze! Found that I put the ABS bearing in backwards... Orange side faces in, metal side (contains the ABS marker) faces out.
Light is off and I havent tripped the ABS yet but want to give it a good clean flush before doing so.
Glad it worked out for you. I am having the exact same issue on my 2015 right now. One dealer said to change it out abs side to a Harley bearing and another dealer said to change out to an aftermarket bearing from Arlen ness made specifically for a 21 inch wheel which is the way Im going to try first. Wheel company says shouldnt have to do either. We will see. Taking it in for bearing swap Saturday. Hopefully this will fix it
Got the bearing changed out today to the one I purchased from Arlen Ness and all is good and back to functioning as it should. Wheel company said they would make it right with me since I had tha added cost of another bearing so I'm all good now.
I have a 2008 FLHX. Just changed the front to a PM Del Rey wheel I bought used. Went and bought new ABS wheel bearings from HD, and had the bearings and wheel installed by a local shop.
rode home, the ABS light on solid. Called HD, they say they would be happy to take my money to reset the light, but that it will likely just pop back on because of the ABS being calibrated for the 16" stock wheel. So why spend the money...
So...what happens if I just pull the fuse to the ABS? Will the bike still run okay? Is there a way to get the ABS working again?
Called PM, and they tell me that they arent sure, shouldnt be any issues at all if I got a HD ABS bearing. Maybe the bearing was installed backwards? They say the orange seal part should be installed to the inside.
Call HD, they tell me that the bearing should be installed with the orange seal facing the OUTSIDE.
Can I get a freaking straight response?!?!?!?! F*&(K!!!!!
