I have felt soreness in my hips and discovered it's from one particular seat I have because it's a little lower and my knees are higher than my hip. When I use my mustang super touring seat it doesn't happen because the seat is higher and it forces better posture.

That....plus I find it helps to lift and lower legs/feet one at a time rather than both legs/feet at the same time. Might be all in my head, but seems like the hip cramps occur after riding in stop and go traffic when you have to lift and lower legs often. One leg, then the other = ok. Both legs at the same time = hip cramps.

You may be a bit dehydrated. Drink water intermttently during the day. Try not to consume caffiene before riding.

I had the same issue. I would go to put my feet down and my hip or sometime both hips would cramp so bad I could hardly hold the bike up. I bought the tall boy board relocation kit http://www.tallboyscycles.com they help a lot. Puts your legs down and out in front of you more. This and it gets the boards out of the way so when you put your feet down you can keep them closer to your bike because the boards are out of the way. It still happens once in awhile but not often. My last bike I also changed my seat to a narrower one close to the tank so I could keep feet even closer to the bike when putting them down. It was worth every penny to get rid of the pain. Worked for me. Also bought a new break lever from soft break to bring the peddle down to the new board location. The boards don't scrap with the kit installed.

Same thing here. It never happens when I plan to pick my feet up or put them down, but it occasionally happens when I do so as a reaction.

Stretching out my legs to my highway pegs on the offending side can give some relief, but getting to a stop and standing is the only thing that makes it go away.

I thought it was just me. Sorry y'all are also experiencing it, but I'm glad I'm not alone.

This is the correct answer. Your system is low on K.

I am 68 and I get a cramp every once in a while in my right hip as I am coming to a stop and putting my right leg down,, hurts like hell for a second. I am short 5'6" and have thick legs so I have to get them out from the seat. Getting old isn't for the weak.

I'm 48 and had same problem, bought a used mustang seat (super touring,i think), and so far a much more enjoyable ride.

Had this happen to me exactly TWICE. Once years ago at a Harley factory function where they offered rides on Buell motors. Got astride that motor and instantly got a cramp that refused to let go until I dismounted. Took that as a sign from God. Next time was two years ago at a Harley Demo Fleet event. This time it happened on a Limited. Said screw it and bought a Street Glide.
