I know for me (hip area pain) it's the psoas muscles that need to be stretched. But they are not an easy muscle to stretch out. But when I do get them stretched properly, makes a world of difference with no pain whatsoever.

I use to have this problem all the time when I first started riding. Since I got my new Dyna last month it started to happen again. Im not sure why it happens.

I am the same age (58) and I regularly ride 170 miles from Rocklin to Santa Cruz, with a fuel stop in Freemont. Occasionally my hips lock up. I do best alternating between freeway pegs and floorboards. While it is not generally good to lock your knees while on the freeway pegs, when I do that it eases the problem. Sucks getting old but it is better than the alternative.

I thought it was just me. Sorry y'all are also experiencing it, but I'm glad I'm not alone.
Same here...
Has happened to me 15 maybe 18 x in 40 years of riding Harleys...
I guess it doesn't happen often enough for me to pin it down to any one particular movement or scenario?

3 years ago, I was back in the saddle after 20 years away. That 1st year was bad on hips. 2nd year only happened a few times. This past year has been couple minor times. Seems to happen to us all over 50.

It's a common problem for me as well. Sometimes I get them and other times I don't. It's not a potassium issue as I supplement with that daily. It just happens.

Happens to me often even on a long walk . I take a baby aspirin when on the road and it starts and that seems to take care of it for that ride. I figured it is cause I'm 74 but its been going on for years now.
Thinking about it, it didn't happen in Daytona this year ..Hmmmm !

Awesome subject to ask about OP!

The last couple months my left hips been bothering, with sport bikes this never happened but since buying a SG my shifting side hips been bugging me. It causes pain all the way up towards my kidney area. I think moving the floor boards around like someone mentioned might help. Or it could be that I just turned 50 hahahaha

I get that hip pain, it almost like you can't move, I only get it once in a while.

I chalk it up to I am a retired out of shape old fat guy, who needs to lose 25 pounds
with only 35 more pounds to go.

If it was normal, it would happen sitting in a car, or at home, only happens on the bike, then it has to be something not right about the position, or seat, bars ect, Tried to google best riding position, didn't come up with much, any idea's ?
