hips seizing up
I had the same issue when I bought a Mustang solo seat.
In the first 20 miles the hip pain was so bad I had to pull over and get off the bike.
Oddly it was mostly the left side, but both hips were almost seizing up totally.
I think the seat was too wide for me at the front, putting my legs at an odd angle.
Sold the seat, and the problem has never returned.
Sometimes it's just something simple like that.
My other other seats (Corbin close solo+HD sundowner) are no problem.
Strange, but glad it was easy to fix the issue.
Also installing my highway pegs down low helps a lot with this.
I could never understand how people can be comfortable with their
legs in a gyno chair position.

And I thought I was the only one with this problem. Hurts like hell, too. I have neurological issues and was told by my neurologist that at my age 61 I should be taking 500 mg of magnesium daily working up to 1000 mg. The calcium isn't such an issue but keeping hydrated is very important and that doesn't mean beer. Stretching on a regular basis is also important.
Im 60. My orthopedic guy said my problem was the bursa sac in the hip. This has just started happening to me on a regular basis. For years I had intermittent issues but it went away.
He took xrays of my knees and hip joint...all looked good he said. So he injected the bersa area with cortisone and it helped...temporiarly. It comes and goes, even when not riding. It's a pain in the *** cause it keeps me from working out as hard as I used to do. Sometimes the pain shoots down to the knee as well.

Ibuprofen will help with the inflamation and thus the pain. Also, stay hydrated as you ride. That's all I got.

Common issue that can usually be addressed with a cushion, such as an Airhawk II, install a higher handlebar, such as a late model Heritage stock bar. Number 1 is learning to relax while riding. This takes practice. Deep breathes and concentrate on relaxing your whole body. This will become second nature. Number 2, ride more to condition yourself.
