I sure like leather as opposed to vinyl. That is one of the reasons I have always used Corbin seats. I wish Mustang would offer this option. I would be willing to pay the difference. Has anyone recovered their Mustang seat in leather? If so, where?
I like leather. check out any local upholstery shop and see if they have redone seats. i bought an ultimate seat for my 102 Yamana Road Star and a local guy reworked it. i didn't have leather put on but i'm sure they could have done it. i have a Russel Day Long in leather and absolutely love it. leather is the way to go. you just have to keep it clean and treat it now and again. might try your local harley shop and see if they know of anyone that does a modification of the seats. if you can find somebody close, beats sending it off to mean city for a couple of weeks.
I know someone in Vero Beach, if that's not too far for you.
ETA: that doesn't exactly answer your question, I know. I have not recovered a Mustang seat. I know someone in Vero Beach who does nice work, if that helps.

mustang seats are waterproof from the factory. That why I have bought them. Once recovered I wonder if they would continue to be waterproof.
I have a mustang super touring seat on my 08 and was not waterproof out of the box, when did they change? I called them the first time I had it out in the rain and they told me I had to seal it myself. I want a new seat for my 14 but I was staying away from mustang for that reason might reconsider if they are waterproof now though.

Thanks, Mike. Shoot me a PM with their name and number. I'll give them a call.

Clarification: Mustang seats are water-resistant, but not waterproof. We've experimented with actual waterproofing, but we haven't found a method that won't double the cost of the seat.
If you treat your seat's seams with ProtectAll a few times a month the water will largely sheet off the seams. Some water will inevitably wick in, but this won't damage the foam.
If the seat gets uncomfortably wet, just bring it inside and let it dry with the nose tipped down.
