Beside Harley or any other cycle shop, where can I get a supply of the little rubberO rings that go around the oil and tranny drain plugs. Can they be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot?
Yes, also at True Value and such. I have a bag of 100 from McMaster Carr. Probably not exactly the same but they work fine. I put a new one on every oil and trannychange.
At $.25 cents apiece at HD why bother with anything but the correct o-ring.
$.17 at Zanotti's I just happened to have a bag of 100 from McMaster C laying around, figured i would either usse them or throw them away. I'm using them.
an o-ring is an o-ring. HD doesnt 'make' a special size just for them. Most harware stores will carry them and probably all auto parts stores (napa, car quest, etc). I would suggest getting a new one of each from HD...then going to the auto parts store and find the correct size. Write that size in your service manual and then you can buy them by the gross if you want too. But at a quarter a peice, it is worth changing them at each oil change.
