I removed both mufflers to install a new rear wheel and tire. I now need to reinstall the mufflers and want to know if you guys are using anti seize on the muffler inlets to make it easier to slide used mufflers back on after being removed for service? If so does it end up making a huge mess when burning off? Thanks
Never really had an issue getting them back off either. Occasionally have to do a few side to side wiggles, then a couple of up and down wiggles, on the muffler to start it off, but then it will slip and turn off,
some guys deform the pipes when wrangling the mufflers off- high temp silicone sealer can be used
whenever possible when dealing with chrome that gets hot- clean, clean, clean...all the way to windex clean
the torca clamps are made to be one-use- they deform with torque. I can usually get a few uses out of them by starting at 32 ft labs and adding a couple pounds every next use- I also have a couple of spare clamps at home along with lubes and common gaskets and o rings.
I use a high temp copper based anti seize, doesn't burn off or make a mess, but makes life a lil easier next time they need to come off. Just clean any surplus off after tightening the clamps.

I have used anti seize (very sparingly) to head pipes joints which works well if/when you have to remove them again for whatever the reason and the mufflers always come right off with little to no effort a yr or 2 later like when playing around with diff mfg's slipons ,removing rear wheel to install a new tire, etc.
The trick when using anti seize is to using it sparingly along with keeping some brakleen and paper towels nearby to clean up any excess anti seize before you get it on yourself then all over the place after that.
Permatex hi temp copper silicone works & seals well in same ap too ,but i found it requires a bit more effort to remove mufflers later on vs using just anti seize (very sparingly) on muffler to head pipe joint.
Using either of the above relieves & or reduces the tugging etc you generally need to do when removing mufflers when using nothing on mufflers to head pipe joints which can weaken the headpipe allowing it to later crack due to vibration & heat cycling.
