Default K&P oil filter question

K&P claims that their reusable filter acts as an oil cooler of sorts. Does anyone have any real world experience with how much of a drop in temperature this filter is capable of producing? I realize it won't be anywhere near as much as a traditional oil cooler but every little bit counts! Thanks in advance!

I haven't seen any data. It does add surface area to cool the oil when the bike is moving. The Cycle Solutions exclusive S-44 version is even bigger than the S-4, like 20%. I asked K&P about about that filter and they referred me back to Cycle Solutions but K&P is the manufacturer.

I have the flo-1 filter same as the K&P, the oil temp according to my gauge is around 5-10° less not really worth writing home about. The filter though imho is top notch , I like it only takes a couple minutes to clean.

Been using the FLO PCS4C oil filter from PC Racing for a few years now. It is equivalent to the K&P. From my temp gauge I would say it has lowered temps about 5* on average. They are heavy duty and act like heat sinks.

I have K&P filters on all my bikes and would agree that the 5 degree reduction is about right. However I use them because they are superior filters, easy to clean and reusable.

5 to 10 degree difference in oil temp is something to talk about. I would think you will notice your bike not as hot when you ride

I did notice a drop in engine temps. But the biggest temp drop in cooling was from the combination of things including: Stage 1, Oil Cooler, 165* Low Temp Thermostat, Flo Oil Filter/Cooler. Works for me.

How long do these last? and seeing them for $175 on Amazon? (holy cow) Almost a wash replacing OEM every 5k miles at $10 from local dealer (tho their prices go up every year!)

I think I got mine for $129. I like the fact that they are solid billet, so you can wrench them off if they happen to get a bit stuck, unlike the disposable filters which crush easily turning a simple job into a real pain in the rear.

I would not count on any material cooling affect, I think what people are noticing is mostly natural variation in oil temp based on conditions

Shopped around and picked up 2 of the FLO Billet filters for under $75 each shipped. Was worth it for me.
